MODERNIZING CHARITABLE GAMING
PlayPA for Charity advocates to modernize charitable gaming in Pennsylvania on behalf of veteran service organizations, fraternal clubs, and other non-profits to help them better serve their members and community.
What is charitable gaming?
Charitable gaming - also called small games of chance – is just that: all funds raised can only be used to support non-profit and charitable causes.
While neighboring states like Maryland and Ohio offer a wide variety of regulated and low-dollar charitable gaming options, Pennsylvania currently only permits a limited selection of paper-based games.

Charitable gaming supports veterans, fraternal clubs, and non-profit organizations.
Since 1988, licensed and regulated charitable gaming has allowed veteran service organizations and other non-profits across Pennsylvania to raise money to support their members and their mission.
Now, there is an opportunity to modernize charitable gaming laws in Pennsylvania and increase fundraising opportunities for non-profits.
Modern charitable gaming means more chances for charity in your community.
Pennsylvania law limits the types of games available to support veteran service organizations and other non-profits to just a handful of paper-based games. Modernizing the law to allow new paper games and electronic pull-tabs will enable organizations to contribute more to charitable causes in their communities.
Other states with modernized charitable gaming have seen increased contributions to non-profits and community betterment by tens of thousands of dollars.
Modern charitable gaming increases membership and revenue.
Data from states like Ohio demonstrates that modernized charitable gaming allows veteran service organizations and fraternal clubs to grow their membership and revenue to support their mission and their community.

“Electronic pull-tabs have been a game-changer for us, boosting our monthly gaming revenue from $6,800 to $15,000.
Historically, we have donated $43,000 annually to the community. Today, we donate $64,000 to support organizations like food pantries, homeless shelters, local schools, active military aid societies, and veterans charities.
Electronic pull-tabs are transforming our town.”
